Today was the last day of the class, also the last day of this semester. We did whatever we wanted to do in class and also watched a short video. It was about dogs. I did not like dogs so much but I had to admit that the video was interesting and dogs in video were so cute!
I was so happy today because we would have 3 days break with a little homework. In addition, I finished my act final drawing. It was really a huge project and I thought I did well.
This might be the last time I wrote something on this blog. See you next Tuesday with your new class, Mr. Schick!

Last two days for Human Geo
Today was the last two days for human geo class. And I got my last test grade which was 82. It was not good I knew, but I was still so happy because it was much better than what I guessed. And 82 still let me have a A.
Next semester I would have western civilization with Mr. Schick. I was so glad about that, though most of my friends preferred Mr. Frendryk.

Horrible Test
Today we took the last test in human geo class. The test was too hard for me, I thought. On the one hand, it was because I did not review well (I was so busy these days you knew it was the end of the semester, and my mom also asked me to do something important). On the other hand, there were some (or many) words I did not know. I did not want to use the translator in test because it was not a good habit. I studied in America, so I would do everything without translator sooner or later.
Besides these two reasons, the test still was so hard. It was a horrible experience, I did not want to see my grade, forever.
By the way, I realized that I just changed one of my answer from right to wrong, but it was too late.

Test Review
our impact has included raising the planet's temperature by 1.2 F to 1.4 F in the last hundred years
burning fossil fuel produces CO2 (coal has much more pollution but it's cheap)
big deal:
- rising sea level (flood coastal area)
- drought (more prominent in warm area) → change what thing can grow here
- species cannot adapt changing condition so make the extinction → polar bear
Bill Nye
- science educator
- writer
- scientist
- mechanical engineer
- inventor
- swing dancer
- Science Guy
what are in greenhouse gases
greenhouse gas reflect sunlight
Bill: talk about
1. creationism - how the world was invented
he thinks it should be taught in religion or social study class not science if it is in high school.
2. climate change
ocean has risen more than .3 degree F since 1969 caused:
- 30% rise of acidity in ocean's chemistry
- certain species become calcified
- shallow water corals increase
- ocean food chain is in danger
since 1994 each year the Earth has lost from its glaciers: 400,000,000,000 tons
definition of climate change
what can we do: recycle and reuse
- walk or use public transportation
- turn off electronics when not use
- eat less meat (need to feed animals)
- eat more locally grown vegetables and food

News Rap
In today's class we did not learn anything, Mr. Schick asked people to sing the news rap they wrote in the front of whole class instead. Writing rap was one of the ways that we could make extra credits (10 points). I really wanted to get these points, but to be honest I had no idea how to do that.
I thought all of them who have showed their raps did a good job on it, though actually I could not hear what they said clearly, this is my problem. I thought All my classmates had a potential to be a songwriter in future.

Grinnell Glacier
Grinnell Glacier is in the heart of Glacier National Park in U.S. state of Montana
named for George Bird Grinnell, an early American conservationist and explorer
the most photographed glaciers
Grinnell Glacier is about 7,000 feet
The glacier has obviously retreated substantially
used to be 710 acres but now it was only 220 acres (by 1993) Salamander 57 acres
between 1966 and 2005 Grinnell Glacier lost almost 40% of its acreage
Grinnell will melt by 2030 (greenhouse effect)
The glacier melts and becomes the water, then the water will make the ocean level higher
the way to solve problem: electric car (reduce CO2)

Environmental Geography
The temperature raises fast as an unusual rate (1.2 to 1.4 degree)
Global warming is caused by human activity (not climate change)
Past: people use oil, gas and coal produce energy to keep house warm (dirty but cheap)
they are fossil fuel
not renewable, smoke creates pollution and causes green house effect (carbon dioxide)
carbon dioxide doesn't let so much heat escape from the atmosphere
Now: people use gas, oil, and electricity to keep warm
water, solar energy are renewable energy, they don't leave pollution
China had many coal factories in last 20 years which made much air pollution, sometimes people need to wear masks when they go out
The size of polar ice caps reduced by 10% in last 30 years, then they broke off and fell into the water
earth temperature has raised to 10 degree, it is 5 degree warmer than usually is
drought is more common in more area now
green house gas: 82% carbon dioxide, 10% methane, 5% nitrous oxide, 3% fluorinated gases
ocean contains 50% earth oxygen, and more than one billion people rely on ocean (protein)
30% increase → ocean level and getting warm
building is closer to ocean 3 feet (damage)
glacier lose 4 hundred billion ton every year (400,000,000,000)
climate change: a long term change n the Earth's overall temperature with massive and permanent ramifications
